BABIES, CHILDREN AND TEENS
Joint Aches/Pains
Children can experience joint aches/pains from injuries or growth spurts. Physiotherapy can be highly effective in managing and alleviating these discomforts, through observing your child's movement patterns to identify any imbalances or abnormal mechanics contributing to joint pain. Treatment includes strengthening and flexibility exercises, manual therapy, and pain management techniques.
Scoliosis
Conservative management (with or without braces)
The main goal of physiotherapy is to stabilise your child’s spinal curvature, improve posture and strength core muscles. Using Schroth’s method, our physiotherapist works closely with your child to create a program for effective scoliosis management. Physiotherapy may also include additional treatments such as manual therapy and kinesiology taping to improve your child’s posture and postural awareness.
Scoliosis Post-Operative Care
Pain and spine stiffness are common issues post-surgery, which can be improved through physiotherapy. Treatment is aimed at resumption of activities of daily living with minimal discomfort, and to strengthen your child’s core muscles post scoliosis correction surgery.
Physiotherapy often involves manual therapy, pain management education and exercises to improve spine mobility and core strength. Schroth’s method may also be incorporated into your child’s post operative exercise program.
